My fellow fashionistas would be familiar with Oroton’s luxury accessories, especially their signature handbags, but few would know that the iconic Australian brand has recently added apparel to its repertoire. Launched in late 2012, the new line of clothing complements the existing range of bags, jewellery, shoes, sunglasses and silk scarves, giving devotees of the label the chance to dress in style from head to toe.

Blending contemporary elegance with understated luxury, Oroton remains one of the most enduring brands in Australian fashion today. Founded in 1938, the company now celebrating its 75th year, is unafraid of delving into design classics and re-interpreting them with a modern twist.

Oroton became iconic in the sixties and seventies for popularising gold and silver metallic mesh women’s accessories, including the “must-have” interwoven metal mesh bag during the 1960′s. Updated versions of the classic mesh bag are still sold today {like this stunning Mesh Jacquard bag} and remain one of the brands most highly coveted pieces by women worldwide.

I’ve fallen hard for these sweet frocks by BHLDN. The painterly hues of blue, yellow, aqua and green remind me of Monet’s garden in the springtime ❤

Perfect for a stylish garden soirée, imagine all of your maids, each dressed in a different color or print…..adorable, right? The key is to keep hemlines all at the same length and ensure that your solid colors match with the colors of the print.

Forget everything that your mother taught you, this season is all about breaking the rules and having fun with your wardrobe!

Alannah Hill has long been a favorite of mine. Romantic, glamorous, enchanting…. Alannah never puts a foot wrong and the Winter 2013 collection is no exception. Inspired by Alannah’s adventures in the modern mayhem of New York City and the old world classicism of Florence, Italy, this collection presents a ravishing range of jewel toned evening wear, luxe leather, metallic knitwear, wool coats and silk dresses.

Mix your colors, clash your patterns, and add some texture with faux fur, tweed or leather. Fashion is all about expressing yourself and showcasing your personality. Have fun experimenting, whether you mix tartan with retro cherry prints or clash your colors with splashes of sorbet pink and fire engine red, this season anything goes. Throw out all that you know, create your own rules and make a bold statement.

These Alannah Hill ensembles are two of my faves. Honestly, could they be any cuter?!?!?

Nothing sucks me in quite like some pretty packaging and creative branding so when I came across Soap & Glory, with it’s ridiculously cute, 50′s inspired design, I was instantly hooked.

The S&G packaging is pure genius and they apply a sense of humor to their products as well. With cheeky product names like Sexy Mother Pucker and Glow Job, Soap & Glory has quickly become one of the worlds most well-known (and most-loved) beauty brands.

And although S&G looks divine sitting on my bathroom vanity, I can assure you, it’s more than just a pretty face. The products smell delicious, they’re extremely affordable and best of all, they really do work.

With a fabulous full range of beauty, body and bath-stuffs, Soap & Glory recommends putting your products on with happiness and abandon, because they believe while beauty absolutely matters, it doesn’t matter absolutely.

Here are some of my faves ♥

HG SG

1.  2.  3.  4.  5.  6.  7.  8.

1. The Righteous Butter - This luxuriously thick body butter truly is righteous! It leaves your skin velvety soft and the S&G signature scent lingers on you (and your clothing!) all day long.

2. Clean On Me - This super sized shower gel with a handy pump dispenser has a built in body lotion, so you can get clean, smooth, sexy skin simultaneously. It has a deliciously rich and creamy texture and is fragranced with the addictive S&G signature scent.

3. Make Yourself Youthful - A fragrant serum that starts off as a light gel but quickly dissolves upon contact with skin leaving behind a nice base for moisturizer. Skin feels instantly brighter with a lovely, luminous glow.

4. Thick & Fast - Adds volume, length and curl for dramatic, flirtatious lashes.

5. Mist You Madly - A flirty, floral, fragrant body spray featuring notes of Bergamot, Blackcurrant, Magnolia, Freesia, Vanilla and Musk. I love this little warning included on the label : Application of this mist may bestow the wearer with a new found and haughty kind of self-confidence, triggering uncontainable fits of flirtatiousness. Mist at your own risk.

6. The Breakfast Scrub - A sweet treat that blends shea butter, oats and sugar with banana, almonds and honey. It not only smells divine (like maple syrup and fluffy pancakes!) but leaves your skin super soft from the very first use.

7. Hand Food - Feels light and luxurious on the skin, absorbs within moments and doesn’t leave any nasty, sticky residue.

8. Sexy Mother Pucker XL - It claims to be the strongest lip plumper (externally applied) on the planet thanks to its plant-based circulation boosters, nano plumpers and visual-effect fillers. Available in four shades – Very Berry, How Nude, Clear and my favorite, Pink Out Loud, which smells like a big bowl of strawberry ice cream.

In Australia, Soap & Glory is sold through Kit Cosmetics and Mecca Cosmetica.

Vertical gardens, often referred to as living walls, green walls, bio walls, garden walls or, in French, un mur végétal, I just can’t get enough of them ♥

French botanist, Patrick Blanc, is credited with creating the first vertical gardens after observing how plants were able to grow vertically in the wild without the need for soil. They can be placed on both outdoor and indoor walls, allowing us to literally bring the outdoors in. These beautiful gardens are able to transform an old, run-down building in the middle of the city and are becoming increasingly popular inside office buildings, homes and retail stores because of their beauty and their natural air purification properties.

HG VG1

{via}

Vertical gardens differ from green façades (ivy walls) in that the plants are rooted in a structural support framework which is fastened to the wall itself. The system consists of a structural frame, waterproofing, an automatic irrigation system, special materials, lights when needed and of course plants. There is a layer of air between the building and the garden which enables the building to “breathe”. This adds beneficial insulating properties and acts like rain-screening to protect the building. The plants receive water and nutrients from within the vertical support framework. By utilizing different types of plants, striking patterns and unique designs are created with natural looking facades that make use of the multitude of colours, textures and sizes found in nature. Vertical gardens are extremely water efficient and all use an automatic irrigation system. Water is stored in either a trough below or in a storage tank and is re-circulated throughout the system ensuring that no water goes to waste.

For those of us who aren’t lucky enough to have the space for a garden — that is, city dwellers, apartment renters and others who don’t have access to a personal patch of grass — vertical gardens are the perfect, space saving solution that can be grown on terraces, balconies, patios and even indoors. When thoughtfully placed, vertical gardens make for great design features and can be utilized as an alternative for wall art. Creating a green space inside your home is a great way to connect your interior space with the outside world, all you need is some imagination (and perhaps a little water and sunlight!)

Freedom’s Winter 2013 collection launched earlier this month and I was excited to see that the range is heavily influenced by mid-century design with retro inspired chairs, buffets and sofas. This collection has managed to strike the perfect balance between Danish retro and modern sophistication.

Freedom’s attention to detail is to be applauded. High-end features like button-back tufting, cylindrical wood legs and piped seams are included on many of the pieces making it clear that this range has been carefully considered and well executed. It’s mid-century design aesthetic at a very reasonable price. L.O.V.E!

There are so many pieces that I have fallen head over heels in love with….this retro chair, this sofa, this wing back (yes, the credit cards should be very scared right now!) Here are my top ten picks -

HG Freedom

Monochrome Modernism at it’s best. Warm timber sits comfortably alongside bold, graphic black and white prints. I adore every single piece. Here’s how to get the look -

Okay, I admit it. I’m a girl who loves her cocktails.  A cheeky g & t, a glam cosmopolitan, a festive sangria – if you ask me, they’re all a lovely way to end the day.

Lately, I’ve been inspired by these images of vintage bar carts, nothing says glamour and sophistication quite like a perfectly styled bar. Not only are they practical but they’re a fabulous way to style that awkward and unused corner of your home (we all have one, right?!?)

One of my favorite things about travelling is getting lost in a new city and stumbling upon hidden treasures and beautiful architecture. When I came across this series illustrating the charm and character of Manhattan’s windows, I absolutely had to share.

“Windows of New York ” is a project by José Guizar, a young graphic designer based in New York. Since moving to the Big Apple, José has developed an obsession with the windows of the city and every week he chooses one special window to illustrate and posts it to his website.

José describes the project as, “A weekly illustrated fix for an obsession that has increasingly grown in me since chance put me in this town. A product of countless steps of journey through the city streets, this is a collection of windows that somehow have caught my restless eye out from the never-ending buzz of the city. This project is part an ode to architecture and part a self-challenge to never stop looking up.”

It’s no secret that I’m a sucker for love and romance. As a child, Cinderella was my favorite fairy tale. I used to daydream about having a beautiful ball gown, a pair of glass slippers and my very own fairy godmother. I guess not a lot has changed over the years, that little girl enchanted by a fairy tale still gets lost in the magic of a pretty new frock and a pair of sparkly shoes……as for the fairy godmother, well, I think I’ve found the next best thing…….

Meet Rene Mussared, Owner and Buyer at In Love Again Vintage, Fashion Stylist, Restorer of vintage treasures and DIY Craft Queen.

Planning a wedding is no easy feat and finding that one perfect dress is one of the biggest challenges you’ll face during the planning process. So what happens after you’ve found “the one”? Have you thought about what jewelry you will wear, will you choose a headpiece or a veil, what shoes will compliment your gown and what hair and makeup style will complete your bridal look? It all seems pretty overwhelming, doesn’t it? Well don’t fret just yet, whilst I can’t promise you an actual fairy godmother, Rene comes pretty darn close.

Not only does she stock some of the most divine vintage wedding gowns, hand-picked and sourced from all over the country, she also offers a unique, one on one, bridal styling service. Rene will work with the bride to create a look that not only reflects her personality and style but also her vision for the entire day. Brides will also gain exclusive access to Rene’s little black book of trusted industry vendors – from Stylists to Floral Designers, Makeup Artists to Photographers, Rene will happily guide you throughout the entire process.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, the Kate Spade brand went back to its roots with its fall-winter 2013 collection, paying homage to New York City, including such urban icons as the yellow cabs, street signs, the Empire State Building and hotdogs.

With studded manicures by Deborah Lippmann, fabulous styling by Brad Goreski, and Mad Men-inspired makeup by Jouer, the fall 2013 show was in one word, fun. Blondie tracks were blasting in the background, fuchsia pink dominated the stage, and the New York City skyline sparkled in neon lights.
