I know what you’re thinking…nautical themed weddings, is she serious? Okay, I agree that the tack factor can be off the charts when it comes to themed weddings but if it’s done right, nautical can be extremely chic and a whole lot of fun. Think beautiful yachts cruising through deep blue oceans, champagne and canapés, sunshine and cool breezes….it’s a destination wedding with a difference! Ditch the coastal, driftwood elements and opt for modern preppy details. Throw in a touch of gold, add a personalised monogram and keep the look clean and crisp.

Can you believe Christmas is only three weeks away? Of course that means one of my favorite nights of the year kicks off in less than four weeks from now – New Years Eve.

I do love this time of the year, when champagne toasts are happening all around and glitter, sequins and sparkle are worn without apology and in abundance.

One of my favorite trends of this year would have to be the rose gold trend. From interior design and home decor, to fashion and cosmetics, in 2013 the design world fell hard for this blushing shade of metal…..myself included!

It’s no secret that I’m a sucker for sparkle and nobody does it better than the glitter queen herself, Kate Spade New York. The Rose Gold Collection is the perfect choice for an irresistibly cute ensemble this New Years Eve.

Ladies, prepare to fall in love….. The Gilded Rose – Starring Kate Spade New York  ♥

It was the warm, vivid colors that first caught my eye…. Artist, Ieva Baklane’s work transports you to a faraway place where the days are long and the sun is always shining. Ocean breezes, barefoot walks in the sand, Ieva’s art whispers promises of adventure, fun and fills you with a sense of freedom.

Inspired by light and bright countries such as Italy, Spain, Mexico, and the USA, Ieva’s abstract works offer the observer a kaleidoscope of colors and geometric shapes. Warm light and wide open spaces combine with modernist architecture and classic scenes of summer…you can almost smell the salt water in the air and see the palm trees swaying in the breeze.

This piece titled, “Endless Summer” is my favorite from the collection. The sunset hues have me dreaming of long lazy days lounging by the pool.

Sg1Endless Summer

So it’s fair to say that I’ve become a little obsessed with Ieva’s work. “Endless Summer” was the piece that started it all but since then, many others have found their way on to my ever-growing wish list….like these ones pictured below. I think any one of them would look spectacular as a standalone piece but imagine them hung together as part of a gallery wall against a crisp white backdrop….pretty amazing, right?

Sg2Santa Cruz Surfer’s House  –  5pm  –  Stand Tall

Ieva’s paintings can be found in many private collections around the world and it’s easy to see why. With loyal patrons in Latvia, Germany, Sweden, Russia, Italy, U.K., Australia, New Zealand, U.S.A., Canada, Hong Kong, Poland and France, Ieva’s work is in strong demand across the globe.

Sg3Downtown  –  Fields  –  Structure Of Light

Ieva’s art is showcased on the incredible website, Saatchi Online. If you’ve never heard of Saatchi (really?!? where have you been?!?) you must go and check it out, it’s my go-to site for original and unique pieces that you won’t find anywhere else. Ieva is one of the many artists represented by Saatchi who not only sell their originals but also offer prints of their work making this an incredibly affordable and convenient method to buy art online.

Sg4The Bridge

The structured lines and geometric shapes combined with the playful use of bright colour…..What can I say? I’m in love ♥ ♥ ♥

{1. Koushi Lamp  2. Cumulus Pendant  3. Z1 Black Lamp}

Oversized pendant lights, made from the softest cotton and muslin, suspended in the air like light and fluffy clouds. It’s designs like the Koushi, the Cumulus and the Z1 (pictured above) that have been occupying my thoughts and to be quite honest, a little too much of my head space lately. It’s fair to say that I’m slightly obsessed…..I have a crush and his name is Z1……..

Here’s something new, it’s called the Pacman Pendant from Melbourne duo Pierre and Charlotte. The Pacman is crafted from 100% cotton over a white metal frame. Look closely to see the walnut timber “Pacman” detail to hold the cable in place. The Pacman can be used as a pendant lamp or a table lamp (see images above) Clever, practical design + stunning good looks, I think it’s a winner. Available through Richmond Lighting in Victoria.

There are certain color combinations that can be defined by the one simple word, “lovely”; blush and gray is one of them.

With this dreamy pairing, blush, a stereotypically feminine color, is balanced out by a more masculine gray. Add a dash of tulle and ruffles, and you have the most beautiful color palette for a classic and elegant wedding…..soft, sweet and oh so romantic ♥

Utterly obsessed with this weeks art crush, Kara Lunzer of GeometricInk.

Kara, who works out of her home studio in Cabot, Arkansas, combines soft watercolors with sharp geometrical forms which are simple yet modern. Clean lines, in monochromatic shades of gray, Kara’s original watercolors are perfect for the minimalist home and are surprisingly affordable.

I’m a huge fan of Kara’s work (yup, I’ve already mentally placed and hung each piece within our home!) but this series titled “Cutting Diamonds” has utterly and completely stolen my heart ♥

Winter, it’s my most favorite time of the year but lately I’ve found myself throwing on an extra layer, pulling on a scarf and looking for extra blankets. I’m not usually one to feel the cold but it gets very chilly up here in the Adelaide Hills and our lack of heating is starting to become more and more apparent. Thankfully, the Hubster doubles as a pretty efficient heat source (why are his feet always so warm when mine feel like ice blocks?) but I think I’m going to need an extra blanket or two to get through winter without resorting to thermal underwear and a Snuggy.

As always I’ve come prepared with a pre-approved list of Winter Warmers that have me dreaming of open fires and a big glass of red wine. Get Cozy ♥
